Lu Jong – Tibetan Healing Yoga

Lu Jong – Tibetan Healing Yoga

Lu Jong has been practised in Tibet for thousands of years. Hermits still use the exercises today to stay healthy and to support their meditation. These are simple physical movements that activate the body’s self-healing powers and at the same time help us to overcome negative emotions such as anger and jealousy, achieve emotional balance and mental clarity, and increase our energy levels.

Lu Jong came to us in the West thanks to Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche. Even as a child, he learned many of the exercises from masters of different traditions. When he met us ‘Westerners’, he quickly realised how much Lu Jong (Lu means body, Jong is training or transformation) could help us in particular. He compiled the countless movements into a package tailored to our modern lifestyle and our problems, suitable for everyone. No matter how old, no matter how mobile or immobile.

Lu Jong is based on the knowledge and insights of Tibetan medicine and Tibetan Buddhism. Both understand the human being as a unity of body and mind. If the natural balance is disrupted, this has an impact on the entire organism and our emotional well-being. Illness, depression or burnout can be the result. With a combination of position, movement and breathing, we open the body’s channels, release blockages and thus gain new energy. Our mind becomes clear and calm.

Space, earth, wind, fire and water – these exercises balance and clarify the five elements in the body. When the elements become unbalanced, illnesses arise and negative feelings increase.

Here we work with the five parts of our body, from head to toe. These exercises help with headaches and are good for the arms, back and hips/legs.

Kidneys, heart, lungs, spleen and liver – the exercises in this group support our vital organs: organ function is improved by removing blockages in the channels so that blood, oxygen, nutrients and subtle energy can flow freely.

Digestive problems, water retention, flu-like infections, colds, exhaustion, declining eyesight or depressive moods – these exercises are designed to address such common complaints and improve the five senses.
